For the 10th Nevellücht regatta, 31 starters met in Plau am See for the Plauer Hai-Live. It was supposed to start early on Saturday. Three races were started in quick succession at 12-15 kn from the southwest. With gusty and shifting winds there were many opportunities to mix up the order in the field.
One special feature of the outbound and inbound sailing should not go unmentioned. There was a 30-minute time window for each passage of the Elde inland waterway, so as not to disrupt passenger traffic due to the large number of sailors. Outside of this time window, towing was necessary. Thanks to the discipline of all the regatta participants, this hurdle was overcome successfully, and they even received praise from the water police at the end.
On the first evening we met in the harbor of Plauer Hai-Live. When we arrived, a large gift table was already set up with surprise boxes sponsored by FOR-SAIL (Stefan Kaste) with useful sailing accessories such as rigging needles, splicing awls, measuring marks, etc. for each participant. Special mention was made to the sailors who had traveled the furthest, such as Patrick, 23 years old from near Dublin, Loic (Paris), Brian (Isle of Wight) and other international starters from the Czech Republic (Alexander) and Holbaek/Denmark (Niels and Knud). We were able to evaluate the races of the first day over freshly baked pizza from the wood-fired oven and also get to know each other better.

On the second day we started on time with less wind from the same direction and at the end of the day, after a total of 2 races, we were able to cancel one. Except for Bernd, we all needed to do this because the changing winds were not always good for us.
In the evening the off shore team really got started. On the 10th anniversary of the NVL regatta, Lutz Christian gave an impressive speech on the history of the club, the regatta, and the lived values not only of matching but above all of social interaction and support. Action4Europe had donated special prizes, for example for Moritz as the youngest starter at 15 years old, for Michael with 2 first places and others. The Italian 3-course menu topped the evening.

On Monday there were two more good races in 2-3 Bft from the southwest. Bernd came first overall with great consistency, followed by Olli and Christoph. With constant tension right up to the last meters, it was close between 2nd and 6th place. Great, keep it up. Sailing out the racing rules remains part of the game. I would be happy to discuss it on land, but in the situation on the water I would grant the right of way.
The prize giving ceremony with a view of the beautiful Plauer Lake in light winds with a mix of sun and clouds could not have been more beautiful. Flanked by the mayor of Plauer, a big thank you goes to the many volunteers, the professional race management, the sponsors, Action4Europe and last but not least Lutz Christian. Thank you Lutz for the further development of the Nevellüücht now as a glowing 2.4 trophy (see cover photo).
