The Saar-Lor-Lux Regatta, organised by the Saarbrücken Yacht Club, offered not only sailing challenges but also a communicative and harmonious get-together that will certainly be remembered by all 23 participants from nine countries for a long time to come!
From the beginning
Already on the day of arrival (for most sailors already friday) we could literally feel the joy and the warm welcome. The boats were quickly made ready and launched. In perfect preparation, each boat was assigned a fixed berth. In the evening we ate together and chatted.
The great preparation and execution by Steffi and Michael Jakobs as well as Manuela and Ulli Libor, starting with the daily breakfast to the mooring beer with sandwiches and small snacks to the daily dinner at or in the clubhouse and as a highlight the honouring of the day's winners, rounded off the friendly togetherness of all participants completely. On Saturday evening, we were officially welcomed by Ulli and Manuela Libor by calling out one by one and playing an individual music track for each of us over a loudspeaker. At the same time, Steffi Jakobs handed over a bottle of wine with the 2.4 Action4Europe sticker. All in all, I think it was a very nice idea that we had a lot of fun with.
There was also sailing in the best and most wonderful conditions!
A total of 10 races were sailed over three days in demanding conditions.
Race director Achim Müller arranged the marks in such a way that each race was sailed with two or three laps. The first four races could be sailed on Saturday with a cloudless sky and approx. 2-3 Bft from the east.
On Sunday, the cloudless sky remained, only the wind did not want to blow above 1-2 Bft (again from the east). So many sailors changed sails early in the morning. After a good fight for position at the starting line and a general false start, four more races could take place. After about four hours on the water and a good portion of sun, we were all quite happy to be able to sail back into the harbour.
On Monday we got wet despite the cloudless sky. Because the wind freshened up properly, so that we were able to sail the remaining two races in gusty winds, approx. 3-4, in gusts of 5 Bft from the east.

I would like to expressly thank the race committee on behalf of everyone seinem the entire team, the operators of the catering industry for the friendly welcome and the delicious food, as well as the organizers and their helpers, especially Steffi and Michael Jakobs along with their son Moritz and Manuela Ulli Libor.
I'm already looking forward to seeing the many new friends again soon at the next 2.4 Action4Europe Regatta in the Netherlands or on one of the other beautiful regattas and sailing areas.
