The venue for 2026 2.4mr Easter egg regatta from April 10th to 12th, was again SNEH in Cerfontaine. The entrance list consisted of sailors from 8 countries, Switzerland, Netherlands, France, Denmark, Ireland, Germany, Belgium and UK. 19 people participated in the regatta.
The weekend event was well organised and coordinated to include reception and parking allocation for the vehicles, including several motorhomes, catering, registrations with all organisation activities coordinated between the OA, Loic, Christophe and Joelle. A crane was brought in to lift in the boats that could not be launched using the slipway.
For the majority of Friday there was no wind so the decision was made not to proceed with the day’s racing. The wind did pick up later in the afternoon but by the time it came it was too late to do any racing, though many did take the opportunity to do some practice on the water including some mock racing. Though this did not stop the after sailing celebrations including beer and dinner in the club from proceeding as planned.
On Saturday the wind was much stronger with gusts of approximately 25 knots maximum creating a short chop on the water. This allowed for 6 races to be sailed to make up for the lost races from the day before with a break for lunch at the club after 3 races. The leaders were soon being established in the increased breeze. Again the days sailing was followed by refreshments and dinner at the club. On Sunday the wind was a lot lighter (about 10-15 knots) and 2 more races were sailed. A third was planned for the day but sadly there was not enough time after the second race was finished. Upon returning to shore the boats were de-rigged and craned back out of the water and a lunch bag was provided for everyone.
The majority of the races were won by Urs, with Loic and Niels also winning races. The overall results of the regatta saw Urs in first place, followed by Frank and then Loic.
Many thanks to all the organisers for the regatta including to Loic, Christophe and Joelle.
