Detlef Mueller-Boeling takes victory as Czech sailors claim two podium places
Jachtklub Máchova Jezera Staré Splavy hosted the international 2.4mR Grand Prix at Lake Mácha from 26 to 28 September 2026. The event brought together 15 sailors from six countries: Czechia, Germany, Ireland, Austria, Ukraine and France. Eight races were completed over three days.
The regatta tested the sailors’ ability to respond to changing wind conditions. Predominantly southeasterly winds gradually strengthened throughout the event, with shifts of around 30 degrees on all three days.
Saturday began with a wait for wind. Eventually, one race was completed in light and variable conditions of 2–6 knots. Detlef Mueller-Boeling won ahead of Daniel Bína and Alexander Sadílek. Positions continued to change late in the race: Bína lost his lead after running out of wind on the final downwind leg and rounded the leeward mark in fifth. He then found a gust on the final leg to recover to second at the finish.
Racing was again delayed until around noon on Sunday. The wind then built to 4–8 knots, allowing the race committee to complete four races. Alexander Sadílek, Detlef Mueller-Boeling, Daniel Bína and Patrick Hassett each took a win. Mueller-Boeling’s consistent results strengthened his position in the battle for the overall title.
The final day brought the strongest breeze of the regatta, at approximately 8–10 knots, and three more races. Daniel Bína, Petr Čermák and Patrick Hassett were scored OCS for starting early in Monday’s opening race, which was won by Austria’s Gerald Zernatto. Petr Čermák and Patrick Hassett won the remaining two races, while Bína secured second overall with two second-place finishes.
Detlef Mueller-Boeling won the Grand Prix with 11 points. His consistency was reflected in a counting scorecard containing no result worse than third after two discards. Daniel Bína finished second with 14 points, while Alexander Sadílek took third with 19 points, just one point ahead of Patrick Hassett. Petr Čermák completed the top five with 22 points, giving the Czech fleet two podium places and three boats in the top five.

We also thank all the sailors for taking part, especially those who travelled a long way to Staré Splavy and helped make the regatta a truly international event.
