… 3 years of the website www2point4.eu

Three years ago, 3mR sailors wanted to combine demanding regatta sailing with fun in friendship for very different people in all boats of our 2.4mR-construction class .

This website was there from the very beginning and has maintained a very good and stable reputation ever since. high responseWe started with a high number of visits and page views in our first year, 2023. The figures remained essentially constant over the three years, with around 9.000 visits and over 20.000 page views.

In addition to the Home and the Boat market the Regatta calendar (7.310) and the Ranking. (2.460) the most visited pages. That corresponded exactly to our goals.

Visitors are spread across Europe, with a clear correlation to the number of 2.4mR sailors in their respective countries and their previous involvement in Action4Europe:
Germany (12.700 visits) leads the list, followed by France (1.900), the Netherlands (1.500), and Great Britain (1.100). Significant visits also come from the USA (1.300), Australia (230), and Canada (110). Visits from Germany have decreased over time, while those from other countries have increased.

… 3 years Action4Europe Regattas

In 2023 we had six regattas with a total of 153 participants. In 2024 there were eight regattas with 192 participants and in 2025 seven regattas with 150 participants. Over the three years, there were therefore 21 regattas and 495 participants.

The number of regattas is slightly increasing, as is the number of regatta participants in general. However, two regattas in Germany were cancelled in 2025 for various reasons. This also affected the number of participants, as it meant that two home sailing areas for the country with the most 2.4m sailors were lost. As things stand today, there will be more regattas in 2026 due to the changed system , which will also mean more participants.

However, the regattas held so far have already been a great success. The gatherings in various European countries have been attractive to many 2.4mR sailors from a total of 13 nations..

Italy and Sweden have so far only been represented by one sailor each. We are working to increase the participation of Scandinavian and Italian sailors, particularly through regattas in these countries from 2026 onwards. Otherwise, we have a representative cross-section of European countries and have thus already achieved another goal of our initiative.

… 3 years Action4Europe Ranking.

The ranking is also part of this appeal.. So far, two sailors dominate: Megan Pescoe (GBR) and Urs Infanger (SUI).

Urs finished on the podium three times (1,2,2, 1,1, XNUMX), Megan twice (XNUMX, XNUMX). They dominate the sailing scene in Europe, but also worldwide, as evidenced by their silver (Megan) and bronze (Urs) medals at this year's World Championships in Italy.

Although the top spots currently appear to be clearly divided between BEL, GBR and SUI, the situation is quite different further down the rankings. Looking at the top 15 places in the rankings, the 45 sailors come from nine different countries.

… 3 years of fun, friendship, diverse people and construction class

The other goals have fewer hard numbers, but they are nevertheless an essential part of Action4Europe.

The question about construction or one design class was not an issue, as all designs were already ahead in our regattas and are fundamentally competitive. Ultimately, the old adage applies:It's not the designer that matters, but the sailor at the helm.. "

The issue of Para-sailing was not discussed either; instead Inclusion was simply practised.

However, a very important aspect of the regattas was the supporting program. To name just a few examples among many:

  • Individual music, to which each participant was introduced at the welcome evening.
  • From the participants aligned Buffet, where everyone brought something from their home country.
  • Award of Daily prices for the sailors with the oldest boats.
  • Award of first participation at a regatta.
  • The most consistent sailor a regatta with only last places.
  • spontaneous polonaise formded by the participants.
  • Special Welcome on the shore with bread and beer.
  • Quizz with questions about sailing.

These important activities led to much joy, strengthened the friendships among each other, even to a good level relaxation on the water.

… 3 years: Summary and thanks

The author draws an overall positive conclusion about what has been achieved:

We have enriched and revitalized the 2.4mR class in Europe.

However, this requires a deepest gratitude to initiators as well as those volunteers behind the scenes and on-site in the clubs! Without this commitment to the 2.4mR class, this success would not have been possible. Long may it continue!
