Sometimes four cakes are better than six.

For the Antwerp City Cup 2025, held as always in the 2.4mR class, a total of 32 sailors from 7 European countries registered. Of these, 23 courageous participants ultimately dared to take on the competition. The event was accompanied by extremely challenging weather conditions caused by Storm Benjamin. The sailors had to contend with gales, sometimes with gusts exceeding 30 knots, and torrential rain, but there were also a few moments when the sun broke through, providing some respite and a touch of autumnal warmth.

After rain, sunshine with a rainbow…

Despite the challenging weather conditions, a total of 10 races were successfully completed. Some participants suffered equipment damage during the races, but this did not dampen the good spirits and teamwork among the sailors. The organization on the water was flawless. The race management team had everything under control. Our thanks go to Antwerp!

On land, the Royal Yacht Club of Belgium (RYCB), thanks to the outstanding dedication of Jean-Paul and Corinne, ensured that the sailors lacked for nothing. The two of them, along with other helpers, provided all the catering. After sailing, everyone enjoyed bitterballen under the patio heater and a refreshing post-sailing beer. Those who wished could indulge in the club's culinary offerings, from a hearty breakfast to a delicious barbecue. And, to top off the barbecue dinner, there was cake.

Megan secured victory in the 2025 Antwerp City Cup after some fierce battles with Ben. Ben and Martin finished in second and third place, respectively. Congratulations to the winners and to all the other participants who delivered outstanding performances despite the challenging conditions and demonstrated their passion for sailing.

Overall, the Antwerp City Cup 2025, as the last European regatta of the year, was a remarkable success despite the weather. The successful combination of sporting competition and social interaction made the event an unforgettable experience for all involved – truly an event within the framework of Action4Europe!

We are optimistic about next year's Cup and hope to see you again in Galgenweel!

Finally, Jean-Paul had ordered six cakes for the regatta dinner, but only four were delivered, which worried him somewhat. The good news – not a crumb was left.
