We were two sailors from Ljungskile/Sweden who set off for Fredrikstad to repay the large contingent of Norwegian sailors who came to us in Ljungskile at the turn of April/May. Gunnar Ödman and undersigned who won the Report Trophy Cup in fourth place.
The sailors from Stavanger showed strong performances with gold and bronze medals.
Frank Huth became Nordic champion 149 in his new boat NOR2025 and thus defended his title from last year. Per Lund, chairman of the Stavanger Sailing Association, took an impressive bronze medal in Frank's old boat NOR145 and was only one point behind the silver winner, Niels Ulstrup DEN114 who, true to his habit, had an even and strong series.

The Undersigned, as mentioned, took fourth place in my old Stradivari Mk I and showed that it is possible to participate and perform with an old boat purchased for a pittance.
Haavard Holstad NOR115 sailed well and took fifth place with Harald's Rolfnes boat and new sails from Faber Munker.
The championship was held in beautiful surroundings inside Hankø and was arranged by Fredrikstad Sailing Association. On the first day of racing we had a fresh breeze from the SW, which is why the course was laid inside at the Royal Monument in a lee with a changing and gusty breeze. The short course was sailed three laps, which led to undersigned losing count and losing a safe lead in one race, which luckily did not affect the final standings.

On Sunday the conditions were calmer with a south easterly breeze blowing off the land and the course could be laid in the archipelago southwest of Hankø, which gave some nice long legs. Choosing the right route in the increasing northbound current was decisive. My upbringing in Öresund has taught me to keep an eye on the current, which paid off well with a win in the last race.
We thank the Fredrikstad Sailing Association for a well-run regatta.
The arrangements in the harbor, the clubhouse on the course worked well though they although they insisted on sticking to the down wind finish line, however they admitted and changed the course for the Sundays races. Except for that it was a shame to pay 500 SEK for the regatta dinner which consisted of frozen/thawed shrimps and a few side dishes. In our regatta at home in Ljungskile we showed that it is possible to do better. Sharing cabin with the bulk of the fleet during the regatta ensured pleasant evenings in good company.
