100 years ago there was no 2.4mR, but in 1924 the Olympic Games in sailing took place. And in Franrich on the Seine, exactly where we are this year as part of the European Circuit will sail the French Cup (see Calendar). This is where the year and the historical area meet magnificently. If that is not a reason for Europe-wide participation.
We don't know what will happen in 2124. Even if scientists predict us a longer life expectancy, none of us will probably reach the year 2124 given our current average age - except perhaps Moritz Jakobs 🙂 . But we can be sure of one thing: people will still be sailing in a hundred years, certainly in one-man boats and perhaps also in 2.4mR.
That's at least a nice wish for the beginning of 2024.
